Bishu Chattopadhyay: Bass Heart for solo double bass

Originally from Kolkata, India, Bishu is a jazz bassist in New York City and has performed at festivals and clubs in New York City and outside. 

 Bishu began playing the tabla at age 6 and later played the cello before taking up the double bass in his late teens. He is a founding member of a legendary Indian music ensemble - Moheener Ghoraguli.

Bishu wrote Bass Heart (2018) as a solo bass meditative piece. The piece is an ‘intermediate level difficulty,' according to Blake Hilley, who premiered this in 2019.
